You know how that birdseed
we all throw at the bride and groom shows up all blurry on those photos? Well, guess what—popcorn doesn’t blur! In fact, what some of you don’t know—yet—is
popcorn has a lot of float to its flight!
Yeah, when you throw popcorn, it travels about 20 feet, so don’t you
think for even a half-a-jiffy that birdseed gets more mileage! But as we said, the most convincing element
is popcorn shows up as popcorn in your wedding photos—NOT blurry white
spots!

Texas Mesquite
Honey
–A rare indulgence
As all us Texans know,
Mesquite trees are bountiful as they paint our landscape with their rugged,
droopy branches. Well what some Texans
don’t know is bees love them too!
There’s just one catch. There are
not very many bee-keepers who actually raise their bees from Mesquite
trees. These little bean-like pods turn
into blossoms, potent and ready for the bees.
(I can hear some of you
now…“I didn’t know Mesquite trees bloomed?”)
has a very different, distinct, woodsy flavor—unlike any other honey! Recently Tara’s two—yes, count them—two
mothers toured the Youngblood Bee Farm. Of course we took Louis and Sybil along as we
needed some curious, fearless encouragement as we knew we would be standing
very close to live bees! Todd Youngblood
of Pearsall, Texas is the 4th generation beekeeper of this somewhat
famous place and boy, did we have a blast!
Todd, Tonya and their two sons, demonstrated the entire operation which had
so many moving parts—and to
have the entire process explained while actually seeing first-hand all the
equipment was so awesome.
In other words it’s a huge process and very time consuming to get from
the bees sucking the nectar from the blossoms to the final, popcorn-ready honey. Louis and Sybil got to operate (with Todd’s watchful eye) the pourer
machine and fill their own bottles of fresh honey. We are proud to offer exclusively this
Mesquite honey in our signature
flavor, Texas Honey Pecan, as well as the individual bottles. Even Central Market doesn’t carry this rare
honey. I know what some of you are
saying—I don’t even like honey—BUT, and there is always a but—until
you’ve tasted Mesquite honey you haven’t cracked a whip! … a good day was had by all us cowpokes.
