HOWDY!

Cowgirls and Popcorn! What a remarkable combination!  Yep, that’s right, Katherine and Tara are on their way to making Papa Dean’s Popcorn the most talked about little popcorn shop in Texas!  Our “popcorn bar” is catching on like a tumble weed blowing across the plains of West Texas.  We are so pleased with our new décor and the response from all of our fans has been overwhelming!  Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to compliment us and point out the little details that you like – ya know, from a personality point of view!  Tara and I could not be happier with our concept as well as the implementation of that Sassy Cowgirl imagine!  Oh yea, even our neighbors have shared that they love walking by at night and seeing our “HOT” cowgirl lamp keeping watch over our precious pop!  Come early and often!

BOEING BLACK EMPLOYEES VENDOR FARE

Our very first Tradeshow of sorts….Papa Dean's was well represented at the 4th Annual event out at Kelly USA!  Katherine had so much fun, as did the employees trying the samples.  The employees were surprised after sampling that they could also ppurchase  their own "pop" pleasures!  It was great exposure for Papa Dean's and Katherine as well......... she had never been on any type of military base before and she was amused at the security in that a Boeing employee even had to accompany her to get a soda out of the vending machine!  Whew!  It was a great morning and thanks so much to Ronnie Jordan for his assistance with the coordination.  Papa Dean’s will definitely be back next year!

POCKET POP

Okay here is how it goes.  Every since January  when our Pocket Popcorn and evolving website, we have happily page went up on our what is still a new been  inundated with people ACROSS the country, in red states, blue

states and even purple states too -  ordering our very unique pocket size popcorn. Mostly the new baby announcement gig has really been keeping us wildly busy! (No we are not even remotely complaining!)   You have to admit, it is the coolest most novel idea EVER -when wanting to announce the arrival of your new baby!  Okay, we'll stop bragging on our creativity, and write what we intended to write!  HA!  Funny story ... we received an on-line order from Michigan - who according to the customer notes, had recently vacationed with family in SA.  Apparently high on their "to do" list was to come to Papa Dean's Popcorn!  Why you ask??  They had been sent some of our popcorn for Christmas and had been instantly HOOKED!  No surprise there!  So anyway they came in at some point, don't know when because they didn't point themselves out to any of us.  Okay, they return home and the Mrs. is now 2 months away from her due date with twins!  That's right, two babies!    Fast forward to February 12th, 2008.  Mr. & Mrs. "San Antonio is My Favorite Vacation Spot; especially in Winter"  placed an order for 200 pocket popcorns to use for announcing their twin's birth.  Beats a stinky cigar right?  The only "special instructions" to us were that the labels (because we do fabulously creative artsy-partsy custom labels for you...) contain a cowgirl for their daughter and a cowboy for their new son!  How adorable!  Apparently they love the new cowgirl popcorn bar at Papa Deans, thus the inspiration.  These birth announcements labels were sooooo awesome!  Why be average - Pop it up a notch and say it with popcorn!

In honor of St Patrick’s Day when everyone becomes Irish for the day, here is some (Beer) news you can’t use, but then again

maybe you can??

  1. About 4000 years ago, it was the accepted practice in Babylonia that for a month after the wedding, the bride’s father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer, and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the "honey month" or what we know to day as the "Honey moon.”

    2.  Before invention of the thermometer, brewers used to check the temperature by dipping their thumb, to find whether appropriate for adding Yeast. Too hot, the yeast would die. This is where we get the phrase " The Rule of the Thumb"

    3.  In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts. So in old England, when customers got unruly, the bartender used to yell at them to mind their own pints and quarts and settle down. From
where we get "mind your own P's and Q's".
