Howdy there all you Papa fans! Do you have your Valentine Day popcorn order in to us yet?  Have you tasted  our three new flavors?  Oh my, they are just “poppin” out the buckets!  The Tuscan Herb & Garlic has been such an amazing hit.  Our customers it seems were just waiting with bated breath for a garlic infused popcorn!  Well, the wait is definitely over.  Chef Zoë has outdone himself on these 3 new treats!  Another new offering is what we affectionately named Twice Baked!  Get it?  It tastes like all that little pile of stuff we put on top of our baked potatoes – ya know like crumbled smoked bacon, sour cream, cheddar cheese, just to name a few!  YUM!  It is such a hit, and like one of our regular customers, Paul F. puts it … it’s kinda “manly” tasting!  Well we’ll take THAT!

Last but certainly not least.  For several months we had eliminated our Nacho Cheese flavor, as we felt it needed to be “popped up a notch” if you catch my drift.  Well, once again Chef Zoe perfected a new recipe for this all time favorite.  Hey we re-named it also – now calling it Nacho Ordinary Cheese!  Pop by and try all three!

NEW DIGS

So howdya like it? Yep, us cowgirls just can’t stop keeping it fresh!  If you haven’t seen the new PAPA DEAN’S shop, better get on in here and check things out!  We have totally re-vamped our interior and now it is more befitting of our original concept which is a Western Popcorn Bar environment!  Come in and sit a spell in our warm color tones and our Mexian-style mahogany popcorn bar!  Pull up a stool and we’ll “serve you up!” Also we have a brand new Lil’ Kernel area to keep those youngans entertained while you sample popcorn shots!  Every child can now stay busy with our custom-made “Popcorn Activity Book”  - an exciting little collection of popcorn related games and coloring pages!

INTRODUCING CHEF ZOë

Meet Zoë Warren!  He is our new Chef Extraordinaire!  He’s the right mix of quirky Urban & Certified Chef (which he is by the way…) He is solely responsible for the development of those three new flavors we mention in the lead story!  Yep, that Zoë puts the attitude in Papa Dean POP!  And we like it like that!  Yippy!

CHEF ZOE

A feel-good story!

Her name is Crystal Quiroz and she had just been discharged from a stay in a local hospital.  It was a chilly January day and in she strolled in all her joy and relief!  “Hi” - Zoë greeted her of course as she breezed on in and sat at the bar.  She proceeded to tell Zoë that she had just been released from the hospital and was told upon discharge she could eat popcorn again – AFTER 3 YEARS OF NOT BEING ALLOWED TO EAT IT!  Okay, so Zoë set her up with popcorn shots and as she tried several samples she explained to him that she literally had driven straight here, to PAPA DEAN’S, from the hospital to specifically buy our popcorn.  She was finally free to indulge in her favorite snack!  Okay, that’s a YUM!  Anyway, so out she went, happy, sassy and with an arm full of popcorn.  End of story right?  No, not really.  Five days later Crystal came back!  Yep, outta popcorn!  Anyway she was just a delight to all of us and we so appreciate her patience and her loyalty, and we appreciate her permission to print her story!  Good luck Crystal and we’ll see ya soon!

…. When normal just isn’t enough

Okay we’re are just going to tease you ever so slightly with a mini introduction to some decadent NEW popcorn delights.  These are separate from our regular menu of flavors and they are only available on Fridays and Saturdays.  Make a note of that detail, okay?  So here goes….  Chocolate Covered HOT Caramel:  Sweet, silky and spicy!   Chocolate Caramel Popcorn Peanut Clusters:  Fun enough to bring out your inner child, sophisticated enough to satisfy the debutante!  Cherry Popcorn Chocolate Truffles:  Rich, elegant and better than boring old Cordial Cherries.  Candy Apple “Brittle”:  Better than at the Fair:  Green Apple popcorn put lovingly to bed in sweet candy blankets.

… all we have to say is oh Shizam, Zoë ROCKS!

   Happy Valentines Day

Phoebe Anne "Annie" Oakley Mozee of Darke County, Ohio, was a tomboy from the start, and soon became known as a skilled rifle shot. In 1881, the famous Baughman and Butler shooting act was performing in Cincinnati. Star of the show, champion shot Frank E. Butler, boasted that he could beat any local marksman.

Butler was amused when told a young woman had accepted his challenge. But Phoebe Ann won the contest. She also captured Butler's heart. They were married in 1882. Butler abandoned his career to manage hers. As "Annie Oakley" she joined Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, performing into the 1920s. Annie died in 1926. Her heartbroken husband died 18 days later. Their happy marriage had lasted 44 years.

Piper said if we didn’t put this picture of her in our February newsletter that she would give her notice…… so guess what we did?  We LOVE you Pip!
