Papa Dean’s on tour with TORI AMOS???
“oh my popcorn” guess what happened Monday starting at about 1 pm! Zoe
and I were minding the shop when we received an interesting phone call from
some out-of-town folks who wanted to know if we really popped our popcorn the old fashioned way with butter and
oil or if we just air-popped like most shops today. We assured them we popped
for real and gave them directions from the Majestic Theater… Hmmm
Zoe & I thought…Hmmmm out-of-towners at the Majestic ???…. They showed up and it turns out the guy was representing famous singer, TORI AMOS! He explained how in every city they stop on tour, he is tasked with going out and about and retrieving the various things requested per contract by the singer and her crew. I couldn’t believe it, because Katherine, Zoe I are long time fans of her music! Subsequently a few TORI AMOS quotes were already in circulation among our thousands of “kernels of wisdom”! You can bet a few of them made it into their popcorn order!! Zoe and I calmed down, went on about the day, playing TORI AMOS music non-stop when the same folks called back again!! The person said the crew (presumably Tori included) loved the popcorn so much, they desperately needed more and placed another order and rushed over just before we closed! He told us the tour was elated at the quality and freshness of the popcorn and ate it all too quickly! He said, “you don’t understand, they get popcorn from every single city on the tour and they all said this is ‘the best popcorn they’ve ever tasted’”. I laughed and pointed to the big neon sign in the front window which states that very fact! Now that Tori Amos and her crew know what everyone else already knows—look out because we’re going global…but first we gotta go national! Love TORI AMOS? We do!

Holidays to all our Papa Deans fans! We are so all about the holidays and
we’re poppin’ for joy that San Antonio is finally wrapped in a chill. The popcorn
shop now displays its holiday “fashion statement” – this time, of course
Katherine and I have “themed” the décor with a “Third Coast Music” scene.
Hanging from our lighted palm and cactus Christmas trees are CDs with the names
of all our favorite Texas songwriters and singers. Take a moment, stop and read
them; whether you’re peeking through from outside or inside the shop, come
acquaint yourself with our fabulous and unique Texas musicians! Once inside
you will hear “our version” of holiday music! (Ha!) You’ll have to just “POP” on in and
experience it, okay?
Popcorn Gifts
Hey check this out! Because I come from a long
corporate background and always found myself around the holidays, looking for
that cute little unique something for my co-workers, or even my roommates, I
decided to come up with one myself – now that I am half of the Papa Dean’s
Popcorn Empire! So, being the creative being that I am… we now are offering
“popcorn tree ornaments!” Yep, put that in your lasso and toss it! They are
so awesome and we are so pop-happy
with how they look! They come completely popped, rapped, tied, embellished,
and out-the-door! Trust me they are way cuter in person than this photo, but
you “get the picture!” We only made 100 so once they are gone they are long
gone!

Our Signature Flavor: Texas Honey Pecan
Word is traveling across the plains and deserts about Papa Dean’s signature offering! I mean, I’m not kidding, the other day we got a call from Delaware (where is Delaware anyway???) and the customer had been sent a tin of 3 flavors: Cheddar, our famous Butter and Texas Honey Pecan. Well, it seems this guy was all out of popcorn and was not exactly in the greatest of moods! The story gets better, because as you know he could have easily just placed his order on line, but he told Tara he wanted to call us and “find out who we were.” No kidding! He said he and I am quoting, “never tasted anything like it” and he wasn’t talkin’ about the butter or cheddar! Okay, so they are awesome, but he was talkin’ about the Texas Honey Pecan! So Tara explained the history of the Mesquite honey it is made from, and a few more details of who is running this popcorn shop now , etc, etc….. Needles to say “Mr. Delaware Customer” ordered more Texas Honey Pecan and “hung up happy!” Oh yea, by the way we also will be offering Texas Honey Pecan pre-wrapped gifts which contain a small jar of the Mesquite honey and a pocket size bag of the popcorn! re OT!
NEW T-SHIRT DESIGN
Well we didn’t expect to have to order more T-shirts before Christmas, but guess what, we ran out of the women and girls style, thanks to our many fans … so here goes!
