…And a poppin we will go!

Well here we are again; back to school and waiting for the heat to subside in South Texas.  We are so proud of where we’ve taken Papa Dean’s Popcorn in a few short months and especially thrilled about introducing our new Logo to you all!  After much deliberation, Katherine (more about Katherine later…) and I have decided to go with a “texas – Western Belt Buckle” theme for the logo and here is a final picture of it!  Like it??  

This will now be printed on all of our popcorn tins, stationary, business cards and anything else that “pops” into our heads…. Because as papa Dean likes to say “ I have a new idea every 15 seconds!”  okay, I would disagree and say…. Maybe every 30 seconds!

Trainwreck – the rock band kicked off our Grand Re-opening Wednesday night, August 15th.   About 500 people passed through our parking lot throughout the early evening.

SNIPSA was well represented with a slew of adorable adoptable animals; with several successful adoptions resulting!

And of course Papa Dean was present – chef’s hat included – to meet and greet our fans.  A great time was had by all and we especially want to thank all the Sunset Ridge merchants who contributed to Rock the Ridge’s success.

Our Signature Flavor

 

Texas Honey Pecan

 

Okay, it’s official! This is definitely our “signature” offering!  This popcorn is made with a very unique honey from Pearsall Texas; 50 miles South! The Youngblood family has been keeping for four generations … yes count them - four!  Todd Youngblood is now running the business and this honey cannot be found in your local grocery store as it is a rare honey and actually there are only 1000 hives that are producing this very special honey! The flavor is very smokey and when we marry that with barely sugared, slightly roasted Texas pecans: “oh my popcorn” it’s desert!  Next time you’re in don’t forget to ask for a starter bag!  And don’t worry; you’ll get a “popcorn shot” to try as soon as you hit this side of our front door!!

POP-FACT …

“Popcorn can be frozen!  That’s right, there is NO typo!  Yes, can’t eat it all at once?  Hard to believe I know!  However popcorn CAN be frozen!  Here’s the Pop on it!  Seal the leftover well (zip locks work great) and throw in the freezer.  When your ready to eat it again, put it on the counter for 2 hours (do not put in the fridge).  Open and indulge!  You won’t believe how fresh it remains!  … a little popcorn knowledge from us to you!

 

 

Lil’ Kernel Klub

 

Thanks to all the neighborhood kids our wall is filling up with your awesome photos and artwork!  If you were one of the earlier Lil’ Kernals and did not receive your “pop card” please come by and pick  one up!  Remember, after purchasing 12 Snack Bags the 13th is FREE!  ….but, mainly we just love your pictures on the wall!  It’s soooo fun to see other kids recognize their friends or classmate’s photos!  You ALL POP!

 

 

Everybody has a story..…

 

A lot of you already know our story, but we want EVERYBODY to know it.  Okay here is the equation:  Tara and Katherine now run Papa Dean’s Popcorn.  Tara is Papa Dean’s daughter!  Tara is also Katherine’s daughter.  BUT… Katherine is NOT married to Papa Dean!  Bewildered??? Another hint then… Papa Dean is married to Tara’s Mother!  Do we have you totally stumped at this point?  Hope so.  Give UP? Okay… here goes….Katherine is Tara’s birthmother but didn’t raise Tara.  MayNell, Tara’s Mom who raised her is now married to Papa Dean!  You guessed it!  You get the popcorn prize!  Tara is Papa Dean’s “step” daughter…. also his tallest daughter…. But she actually got THAT from ME, Katherine!    We met when Tara was 19 and I was 17 years older than that!  We all have been one big blended family ever since. 

 

As far as we know we are the only Birth Mother/Birth Daughter combination running a business together.  Truly Blessed.
