Howdy ya'll..... May is our favorite time
of the year - in no particular order, we can take a breath of relief that
Fiesta has come to a close - not that that is a good thing, but you know we can
finally get some rest from all the partying; the kids will be out of school
soon; the humidity is on the brink of return (oh joy joy); the wedding season
is here which means our Pocket Popcorn order board is fat-full; and, Tara
and Katherine are celebrating their first year
anniversary of having purchased this fabulous little 25 year old Alamo
Heights jewel aka Papa Dean’s Popcorn! Please take advantage of our

Pop-Gals-Storm-Roundtop
Yep,
Tara & Katherine took a road trip to Roundtop, Texas to the bi-annual and
the largest antique show SouthWest of the Mason Dixon line which
is actually 8 miles of tent after tent full of stuff to buy! Yea,
the pop gals were OMG, beside themselves - which is putting it mildly!
First of all, the mere presence of their graffiti-upped red Suburban caught
every body's eye every time they came in and out of the make-shift parking lots
- and oh by the way that would mean hundreds of them along the 8 mile
stretch. Yep, there were stares, there were the thumbs up, and there were
the shout-outs of "there go the popcorn snobs"! We were
there looking for that perfect new addition to the shop and boy or girl,
did we find it! ... a hand painted life size cowgirl on the front of a
huge armoire! And in true pop gal fashion, we finalized the
purchase and exchanged cash right on the dance hall floor to Michael
Jackson's "Beat
It" Now the question of the day was - how do we
get it back to San Antonio? Then just before midnight, we corralled
some unsuspecting cowpokes stumbling by and convinced them to load the Armoire
in the back of the Suburban! They did, we tipped our hats and high-tailed
it back to the hood. It was as simple as that! The entire two days
and one night were a blast and everyone we could talk to knew about Papa Dean's
Popcorn when we got through with them. We took 100 business cards each
with us and guess what....... I know I know you guessed – we seeded the
Roundtop pastures with our cards! We would totally recommend this
adventure to anyone who likes to shop but book a room 6 months in advance or
you’ll be sleeping under the BIG Texas sky.
And shop shop till you "POP"!

Fiesta
Whew, Fiesta this year was wild and
crazy as usual, and we knew you'd enjoy a special pic of our night at our
favorite event: the River Parade. The whole event, the meal provided as
always by Willard’s Jamaican Jerk Joint, and the private seating on the river's
edge was the best time ever! Some of our popcorn bags thrown at the
gorgeous decorative boats passing by landed in the water - but hey, it was
kinda cute seeing our fab logo bobbling down the San Antonio River against the full moon. Thanks to Steve and SAAW - we love you!
